Chengdu: Leshan Buddha Optional Tours w/ Transfer or Guide

How do you get to the Leshan Buddha site on your own?

We recommend taking a taxi to Chengdu Dong Station (成都东站), purchasing a bullet train ticket (trains to Leshan depart every 15 minutes) to Leshan Station (乐山站), and then taking a taxi to the Giant Buddha (乐山大佛). The round trip cost is around 150 RMB, depending on the distance from your hotel. (All transportation costs are your own.)

If you book our private tour to both the Panda Base and the Giant Buddha with a guide and transfer, you will meet your private guide and driver at your hotel in downtown Chengdu in the morning. Following your guide, you can optionally visit the Sun Breeding area and Moon Breeding area to see panda babies having breakfast. After that, you will see adult pandas and the very popular pandas playing together when they are most energetic in the morning, while learning interesting stories about pandas related to their habitat as you walk through the museum and bamboo forest.

Then, head directly to the Leshan Giant Buddha (approximately 2.5 hours), relax on the way, and enjoy the beautiful countryside views. The Leshan Giant Buddha began construction in the year 713 during the Tang Dynasty and was completed in 803; the statue took more than 90 years to carve. During this time, thousands of workers contributed their efforts and wisdom to the project. As the largest carved stone Buddha in the world, the Giant Buddha is featured in poetry, song, and story. You will view the Buddha from different perspectives if you follow your tour guide.

An English-speaking tour guide is optional during this tour based on your booking choice. Tickets and travel by private air-conditioned vehicle, along with roundtrip hotel transfers, are all included.
