During the cherry blossom season (March to the end of April), all tea ceremony experiences are personally hosted by Manabu Ito.
I come from a family that served as official gardeners to the Tokugawa Shogunate, with a tradition connected to the cultivation of Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms. For generations, we have practiced tea ceremony and calligraphy, and I use utensils passed down from my ancestors.
In this seasonal experience, you will enjoy an authentic tea ceremony while learning its history, cultural meaning, and the care of tea utensils. You will observe a demonstration, prepare matcha yourself, and join a Q&A session.
You can also appreciate Kyoto’s traditional culture through ikebana and higashi (dry sweets), along with rare items such as hanging scrolls, tea bowls, and kettles.
