But Pinkerton already has a foot out the door, looking forward to the day he will marry “a real wife, a wife from America.” Years pass, and she waits faithfully for her husband’s return from distant shores. Know before you go

• While an extra layer of clothing is recommended for comfort, there is no mandatory dress code.
• All items larger than an A4 sheet of paper (21cm x 30cm) must be cloaked. The cloakroom is free.
• Ushers will close the doors at show time and may not allow latecomers in until there is an appropriate pause in the performance.
• The Sydney Opera House is a 10-minute walk from Circular Quay, which all ferries and numerous buses and trains stop at.
• Taxis can drop off passengers at the roundabout at the end of Macquarie Street and can be hailed from the taxi stand at the end of Macquarie Street after performances.
• Photography, sound recording or any kind of filming is not permitted during the performance but you're welcome to take photos before and after the performance and at the interval.
